Lantern Hollow
★★★★★ 4.6
Lantern Hollow is a quiet adventure game about a traveller arriving in a fog-bound village where nothing quite works the way it should. You tap to explore, pick up objects, and solve environmental puzzles that slowly reveal what happened there. It's atmospheric without being gloomy.
The puzzles are clever but fair. I only got properly stuck twice, and both times the answer was sitting there once I looked again. The art and sound do a lot of heavy lifting, and the whole thing plays beautifully with headphones on a train.
It's not very long, maybe four hours, and there's no replay value once you know the solutions. But as a single calm experience, it's lovely, and it never asks for a connection.
What we liked
- Rich atmosphere and hand-painted art
- Fair, logical puzzle design
- Perfect length for a couple of sittings
